Using the F8 Method

1. Restart your computer.
2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode.

Take a look at starting all types of Windows in safe mode for more information. Immediately after the Avast anti virus un-installation, my sister’s laptop regained normal functions. Avast anti virus needs to be more user-friendly, not to mention computer friendly as well!

It’s a good thing that I could use my flash drive to copy the aswClear.exe program into the laptop after downloading it using the other computer. By the way, did I tell you that the Avast! anti virus messed up the wireless connection to the internet on my sister’s Dell laptop too? Well, it happened. Perhaps you can initiate the aswClear.exe program directly from the flash drive too but I copied it onto the Avast! induced problematic laptop.

Yes, so the aswClear.exe program is the only way to uninstall the Avast! anti virus. It is a unique uninstall procedure but obviously troublesome for the uninformed user. Anyway, I tried to run the program on windows & it gave me an error message. Yes, I should pay more attention to the uninstall instructions. Ok, run it when Windows is in Safe Mode. How to uninstall our software using aswClear.exe:
1. Download aswClear.exe on to your desktop

3. Open (execute) the uninstall utility
4. If you installed avast! in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
5. Click REMOVE
6. Restart your computer

Avast! Causes Critical Problems on Laptop

Today is a not so good day especially for my younger sister’s laptop. It is a normal habit of some people (including my sister) to download as many free anti virus solutions as possible.
