Note on Computer Worms & Trojan Horses

Another two of the most common network attacks apart from computer viruses are Computer Worms & Trojan Horses. A Computer Worm is similar to a Virus as it can repeatedly make copies of itself. A Worm is slightly special than a virus as it does not need an executable file in order to replicate itself. A Worm can make copies on its own & infect other networks, eating up plenty of bandwidth.

Another feared network attack is the Trojan Horse which does not replicate itself. It is a program that looks like a legitimate program but in secret, is a fake. When installed or downloaded to a computer, a certain action can trigger the Trojan Horse do start its purpose. It could be to send information to a source outside the network or a program that will cause harm to the computer & network.
