Cyber Extortionist Sends Threatening Emails

Internet users who have been around long enough to know about the various money making opportunities available on the internet may have read about the existence of threat emails. In my experience, it is usually a business (fly by night, scam, illegal, legal, whatever) receive such emails from people threatening to do things like launching a DDOS (Denial of Service) attack towards the website owned by the business.

The perpetrator of the threat email is termed a Cyber extortionist & is someone who uses emails as an offensive force. They would usually send a company a very threatening email, usually demanding money in return (like blackmail) or else they will release some confidential information, exploit a security leak, & launch an attack that will harm a company’s network; among other things. The reasons for doing so could be because the person felt or was actually cheated by the company & wants revenge, a grudge to a former boss, a cyber criminal who have targeted the business, & etc.
