Some people mention that whenever you start a computer you should have no removable media in the drives. This goes for CD, DVD, & flash drives but it is usually no big deal which up to date computer security programs cannot handle in my opinion. You can also configure the computer to detect drives the hard drive first for start up. The idea is that when the computer starts up, it tries to execute a boot sector on the drives.
Attacks could come from the boot sector of other drives to infect the computer’s hard disk. You could use it as a precautionary measure especially when the other drives are used often on public computer networks. An original operating system disc is probably uninfected because it came straight from the software maker so it is safe to use in case you want to reformat & reinstall everything on the computer, & etc.
