Lucid Touch: Screens for Future Interactive Magazines

At the Techfest 2008, Microsoft brought along a touch-screen technology called lucid touch for mobile devices, co-developed with Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs. I believe that it’s another piece of innovation done not because people need it but because the manufacturers can do it & think that its best for consumers. It’s like a concept car, still a way to go, figuring out whether things will make it to the production line.

Lucid Touch allows the user to hold it with two hands and use their fingers to navigate. The unique thing is that it’s done from underneath the transparent screen although it looks quite distracting at the moment. It allows the user to see the entire screen when pointing. I think the device looks good & the applications of it are good too. Like a digital interactive magazine. I guess the computer chips & major components are placed at the bottom section of the device.
