Just recently AMD announced to release its Quad core chip out after a few months. Intel is not one to sit around while its closest competitor receives all the raves. Now Intel wants attention regarding its new SIX core chip! Named Dunnington, the 45nm chip will be available in the second half of 2008; a direct competition against AMD’s quad core offering.
In terms of technology advancement in 2007 & probably in 2008 too, Intel wins it hands down & AMD is struggling to keep up with the market leader. While computer processors start to increase in core numbers within months of each other, the applications to really take advantage of multiple cores are not! There is a vacuum for the use of already available advanced multi core technology. Even Microsoft is only “looking into it”!
